The Mission Beach Information Station is a depot for Greyhound Freight. If you need something delivered to Mission Beach it can be put on the greyhound bus and dropped off here and likewise if you need to send parcels interstate we can arrange that for you too

Arcadia Beach Guest House Magnetic Island

A friend and I had the pleasure of staying at the Arcadia Beach Guest House on Magnetic Island on the weekend. Lots of good things about this place, first one being that its directly across the road from the beach so fantastic views to enjoy, only interrupted by the mokes, catamarans and kayaks you can use or hire. Next thing is that they have accommodation to suit everyones needs, there are studio suites, ensuite doubles, budget rooms, dorm rooms, safari tents and the self contained beach house. We stayed in the self contained Alma Bay Room, which was perfect for us as we prefer our own bathroom. Although even the share bathrooms have a bath so this is a bit of a treat for the backpackers as most hostels don't have them. There are two great communal kitchen lounge areas for everyone to use, and a wood-fired pizza oven. The character of the building lends alot to the feeling of hanging out in your own Beach House especially as you sit out on the front deck enjoying a cold drink or swimming in the pool that overlooks the beach. The other great thing for us is that we timed it so that we were there for BBQ night, it starts with drinks on the deck where you get to sit around with the staff and other guests getting to know each other, then you enjoy a meal that feels like your eating at home but you haven't had to cook it yourself. I heard that one of the biggest problems is that guests don't want to leave, they are always booking extra nights, now that is a good problem for them to have, and I can definitely see how that happens! Bicton Hill

Mission Beach has some great walking tracks, and one of my favourite is Bicton Hill. Magnificent views! This circuit track is 4km in total taking approx. 1 ½ hours to complete. The walk up takes you through breathtaking rainforest and the view at the top is worth every step!

Where to eat in Mission Beach

Where to eat in Mission Beach, is a common question we get from visitors. We are lucky here that there are many great restaurants and cafe's located across the villages. I went out last night for a friends birthday and again had a fabulous meal at the new Spicy Thai Hut in Wongaling Beach, great food, great company and perhaps a drink or two was enjoyed by all. I can strongly recommend them for locals and visitors alike!

Etty Bay

Yesterday I went for a lovely drive from Mission Beach to Etty Bay. It was only 50 minutes and then you end up at a gorgeous beach at the Etty Bay Caravan Park. There is a takeaway shop for lunch and dinner, a stinger net so you can swim year round, and a resident Cassowary who wanders around the park at leisure. We had a great time sitting at the beach enjoying a glass of bubbly! Come into the Mission Beach Information Station and we will show you how to get there.

The Mission Beach Information Station has free internet for vip and yha card holders. So if you are passing by Mission Beach pop in and check your emails and we can also give you some great info on the area from the 'real locals'. See you soon!!!

Cyclone Olga

Well we have our second cyclone of the season in FNQ, Cyclone Neville fizzled out and now Cyclone Olga looks like she will hit land this afternoon up near Cooktown. We have been lucky here in Mission Beach with only a bit of wind and rain around today, but we are certainly thinking about the people who will be affected up north. If your traveling around then please be careful on the roads!
